Browsing Electronic Journals
If you would like to browse journals in your subject area to see which titles Goldsmiths Library subscribes to you can use an online tool called BrowZine. BrowZine can be accessed from your computer, smartphone or tablet.
All of our online journals can be found in BrowZine alongside Open Access publications. By registering a free account you can also save articles and create a virtual bookshelf which alerts you when new articles are published in those journals.
Accessing BrowZine
You can access BrowZine by clicking the 'Browse Journals' link in the Library Search menu. You can use the search box to find journals by title, subject, or ISSN, or click on a subject to start browsing.
Clicking on a broad subject area, e.g. Arts and Humanities, will provide you with a list of sub-categories to help you find journals in specific areas of research.
Once you have found a journal of interest you can use the left-hand menu to peruse back issues. Click for options to read, save to My Articles or export the citation to your preferred reference management software.
Journals available outside BrowZine
Some of the library's journals, newspapers and magazines are 'outside BrowZine'. This means BrowZine doesn't have subject information or table of contents for those particular titles. You can still find these publications in BrowZine if you know the title and you will be re-directed to the journal's website or database through our e-Journals A-Z list.
Note: BrowZine apps do not display titles outside BrowZine.
Titles which are 'outside BrowZine' cannot be saved to My Bookshelf or My Articles. As an alternative it may be possible to set up an RSS feed to be alerted to new articles in a particular publication and use reference management software to save articles. If you require support to do this please contact the library Enquiry Desk.
My Bookshelf
If you register an account you have the option to create a virtual bookshelf to keep up to date with journals in your subject area. Just click on the Add to my Bookshelf button in the top-left of the journal navigation page to add a title.
You can have up to four book cases, each with four shelves which can be renamed as appropriate. From here you will receive a notification as and when new articles are published in each journal. If you are also using a BrowZine app for your mobile or tablet your shelf will automatically sync so you don't see the same notifications twice.
BrowZine also gives you the option to save individual articles and to name and order them as collections.
From here is is possible to export your references to Zotero or to download a file which can be loaded into other reference management software. You need to allow BrowZine to load references to your Zotero account as shown below. Ensure you are logged in to Zotero first.
Note: This will export the reference but not the PDF.
